AI race engineer

AI race engineer for Assetto Corsa

Assetto Corsa is our reference game: the team drives it every day. Here the engineer does almost everything: it calls out the cars alongside you, tells you which corner the tenths go in and marks your braking point with a beep.

What it tells you over the radio

Spotter

Car left, car right, three wide and clear.

Corner-by-corner coach

It learns the track as you drive and tells you where you lose time against your best clean lap, and why when it can measure it: braking earlier, exiting slower, being in the wrong gear.

Braking beep

A three-tone countdown that ends at your reference braking point. You switch it on in the settings.

Gaps, fuel and tyres

When you are closing in or being caught, how many laps you have left and how the tyres are doing.

It comes straight from the app's code and is updated along with it. “Not yet tested on track” means it's built but nobody has driven it with this game yet.

What this game doesn't publish

The reference game: the team drives it daily. Spotter, corner coach, brake cue, gaps and fuel work. There is no way to ask for the pit stop by voice, the game raises the blue flag unevenly against the AI, and damage has not yet been tested with damage switched on.

How to connect

  1. 1

Install SmoothOperator on the same Windows PC you race on.

  2. 2

Open Assetto Corsa with the app running. No plugins to install and no game settings to change: the app detects it automatically.

  3. 3

Go out on track. The engineer starts talking as soon as there is data.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with Assetto Corsa EVO?

Yes, but EVO publishes a lot less than the original Assetto Corsa: today there is no spotter or corner coach. It has its own breakdown.

Does it call the blue flag?

Assetto Corsa shows the blue flag inconsistently against the AI, so the engineer also works out for itself when you're about to be lapped.

Which languages does it speak?

English, Spanish and Catalan: the voice and the whole app. Each language has its own engineer voice, which runs on your PC without a connection.

Can I use it now?

Right now we are in private beta: we open seats in batches and let you know by email. Joining the waitlist is free; the plans we intend to offer are on the Pricing page.

Do I need an internet connection?

To download the voice pack the first time, yes. After that, the callouts play from clips stored on your PC, even offline. Talking to the AI does need a connection.
